By most accounts Whipped's tiramisu cake is as gorgeous to look at as to eat, light and airy, espresso and mascarpone holding hands. But the cupcakes are the ongoing love affair, reviewers say: a German chocolate one with flat-out decadent icing over a perfect base, with the Strawberry Tres Leches and Dubai chocolate chip both impressing on return trips. Custom cakes get called showstoppers, the kind people photograph at the party.
This, over on Ronald Reagan, is the bakery reviewers steer people to in town. One honest heads-up: a graduation cake came back with the writing in the wrong color, and while they fixed it, there was no apology and some red residue left behind, a small ding on an otherwise excellent operation.
A tiramisu cake light as air and cupcakes people obsess over? I'll find a birthday to justify it.
