The word on The Thirsty Chicken

Here's the word going around

I haven't tested that 'not fast food' promise yet, so this is the diners' read, not mine.

Anthony, The Leander Local · Last checked August 2026

By most accounts the sign swearing this isn't fast food is a brag, not an apology. Reviewers say everything's made fresh to order so it hits the basket hot, and the chicken strips are massive, four pieces enough to tap out a grown adult. People run the twisted tail feather (spicy lemon pepper) and the kickin chicken buffalo, plus fried cauliflower in the raging rooster, and call the homemade ranch and chipotle aioli, with its real kick, worth their keep.

The thick-cut curly fries read unique and filling, the slushies come boozy or not, and the outdoor seating is shaded but exposed, so a 95-degree Texas afternoon will cook you a little alongside the wings. Worth the sweat, the reviews say.

Massive made-to-order strips with real sauces? I'll happily sweat through that patio to get them.

The Order

Reviewers point to four-piece strips in hot lemon pepper, the twisted tail feather wings, fried cauliflower with the raging rooster, curly fries, and chipotle aioli on the side.

⚠ Gotcha

The Cheetos wings run a dollar extra per wing and underwhelmed people, by a few accounts. Spend that money on a slushie instead.

That's the word on this one.
