You have to know to look for The Boss, parked behind the Night Owl bar in Leander, and that is exactly why it is a gem. I drove in from out of town, ordered online, and the food was ready hot and made-fresh before I even arrived. Best cheesesteak I have had to date, and the fries are the tell: cooked in beef tallow instead of oil, hot, well seasoned, and you taste the difference immediately. The boss sauce is the name on the door for a reason. The smash burgers and the house-made raspberry lemonade are no slouch either.
It is a food truck, priced fair for one, with shade and water misters that matter in a Texas summer. One warning learned the hard way by an online order: check what lands in your bag, because a steak-and-onions once showed up with no grilled onions and no provolone. When the order is right, this thing sings.
