Taco Chango

Taco Chango does something almost nobody does anymore: while you wait, they bring you a little cup of genuinely wonderful soup to sip on, and if you order from your car they walk it out to you. That kind of care tells you everything before the food even lands. And the food more than holds up. The quesabirria came with a fresh garnish of radishes and cucumbers and was the kind of thing that ruins you for lesser versions, and the chicken flautas, torta campechana, and burritos all tasted made with actual love.

The owners are sweet, the welcome is warm, and there is covered seating if you want to stick around. I drove over from Leander on a tip and did not regret a mile of it. This is the small, family-run operation this whole guide exists to celebrate.
