Anthony's take

By Anthony Martinez, The Leander Local · Updated June 2026

If you love authentic Mexican food, get here. I hit this place several times in my first week back in Texas and fell hard for both the people and the food. The barbecue and the pastor are excellent, and the tamale was honest pork with real chunks of meat, not those sad little things barely holding a filling. The fresh melon and pineapple juices are worth the stop on their own. No Spanish? No problem, someone is there to help you order.

It is also a proper meat market, the kind that carries goat, beef liver, and ox tail, cuts you will not find at HEB. Look around at the clientele and you see a room full of satisfied people, and I left as one of them. Food and necessities under one roof, done right.

The Order

The pastor and the barbecue, a pork tamale, and a fresh melon or pineapple juice.
