Anthony's take
By Anthony Martinez, The Leander Local · Updated June 2026
Smokey Mo's gave me lean brisket that held together and jalapeno sausage with a real kick, and the spicy sauce is the rare one that is not just vinegar pretending to be barbecue. Pinto beans, green beans, potato salad, zesty pickles, the whole supporting cast showed up. Save room for the banana pudding, it never lets me down. Kelly worked the counter with a smile and actual conversation, the kind of welcome that makes a chain feel local, and the catering crew under Lindsey has a reputation for knocking out big spreads.
Here is my warning: do not bother with delivery. I have heard too many stories of orders landing at the wrong address and going cold. This is a counter-serve joint at heart. Walk in, let Kelly greet you, carry your own tray. That is the version of Smokey Mo's that works.
The Order
Lean brisket, jalapeno sausage, and the banana pudding without negotiation.
⚠ Gotcha
Delivery is a mess, with orders landing at wrong addresses. Order at the counter and carry it yourself.
