The conchas at Salgado's are the best I have put in my mouth, full stop: fluffy, flavored right, gone before I got to the car. I am also flat-out addicted to the Mexican cheesecake, and when I stand there paralyzed by choice, the folks behind the counter swap my picks for whatever came out freshest. Steven walked me through the bread and never once made me feel like a tourist.
The prices do not match the quality, which is to say they are too low for what you get. I tore through apple-pineapple empanadas, scooped strawberry and butter pecan ice cream, and watched a chocolate cake with light strawberry filling disappear at a birthday. This is a neighborhood bakery doing everything right.
