The word on Salgado's Bakery - Leander
Here's the word going around
I haven't been paralyzed by this case yet, so this is the regulars' read, not mine.

By most accounts the conchas at Salgado's are the best people have put in their mouths, full stop: fluffy, flavored right, gone before they reach the car. Reviewers also confess an addiction to the Mexican cheesecake, and say when they freeze up at the case, the counter folks swap their picks for whatever came out freshest, with a Steven walking people through the bread without making anyone feel like a tourist.
The prices, the reviews note, don't match the quality, in that they're too low for what you get. Apple-pineapple empanadas, strawberry and butter pecan ice cream, a chocolate cake with light strawberry filling vanishing at a birthday, this reads as a neighborhood bakery doing everything right.
The best conchas someone's ever had, at prices too low to be fair? I'm there before the fresh batch cools.
The Order
Reviewers point to the conchas, the Mexican cheesecake, and an apple-pineapple empanada, plus butter pecan ice cream if it's there.
That's the word on this one.
