Anthony's take
By Anthony Martinez, The Leander Local · Updated June 2026
Monster Donuts doesn't make the dense, sad supermarket donut. These are light and fluffy, a different recipe entirely, and the old-fashioned cake ones come moist and soft with that sugar-glaze crunch that makes the whole thing sing. The apple fritter is my pick of the case. They've got kolaches too, and the staff are friendly and quick every time I've gone, including for a birthday haul the kids demolished.
The namesake monster donuts, the cute ones with little toy rings and gummy worms for the kids, are real, but they move fast. I struck out once on a Saturday and got plain donuts and a sad face, then came back and they had them. Lesson learned: the good stuff sells out early.
The Order
I'd grab an apple fritter, an old-fashioned chocolate cake, and a couple kolaches.
⚠ Gotcha
The cute monster donuts sell out fast. Go early on weekends if the kids have their hearts set on them.
