The word on McAlister's Deli

Here's the word going around

I haven't cashed in a Tea Pass here yet, so this is the diners' read, not mine.

Anthony, The Leander Local · Last checked August 2026

By most accounts McAlister's knows its counter-serve lane, and the staff carry it: reviewers credit a Shelby double-checking orders and a Claudia hustling short-handed, with food coming out hot and fast. The Tea Pass, eight dollars for one tea a day for a month, gets called a borderline-insane deal for anyone nearby, the sweet tea with easy ice a genuinely refreshing pour.

But the cracks show. One visit caught the tea machine down, the card reader glitching, and the sugar cookies out front gone hard. None of it ruins the meal, people say, and the crew is trying, but it's the kind of operational sloppiness that keeps this a reliable, fine pit stop rather than more.

A tea a day for a month for eight bucks? I'll do the math in person, refreshing pour in hand.

The Order

Reviewers point to a sandwich and the sweet tea with easy ice, and say buy the Tea Pass if you're a regular.

⚠ Gotcha

The tea machine and card reader have been known to go down, by several accounts. Have a backup payment ready.
