Golden Chick is the most slept-on fast food going, and I'll plant that flag. The chicken comes out hot and right, the sides actually taste like something, prices are fair, and it's consistent store to store, which is half the battle with a chain. Those rolls are the secret weapon: fresh, hot, soft, the kind you keep going back for. Eat inside in Leander and you get a free vanilla cone on the way out, which feels like getting away with something.
Two gripes keep it honest. The switch to a one-compartment container means your spicy order bleeds onto the fries and roll and turns the bread gummy, a small change with real fallout. And the catfish and fried okra ran bland on me, though that's on me for wanting Cajun in a chicken joint. Come for the bird and the rolls.

Perfectly fried chicken, a side, and those rolls. Eat inside for the free vanilla cone.
⚠ Gotcha
Order spicy and it'll bleed onto your fries and roll in that single-compartment box. Ask them to separate it.
