The word on Firehouse Subs Southbrook Station
Here's the word going around
I haven't ordered a sub here yet, so this is the diners' read, cheese upcharge and all, not mine.
Anthony, The Leander Local · Last checked August 2026
By most accounts this is a chain sub shop that earned a nod. Reviewers say the first couple visits felt thin, ingredients hiding from the menu photos and prep times that tested patience, then somebody fixed it: now the Hook & Ladder shows up loaded, the chili draws genuinely-good marks, and a counter guy named Ricky builds app orders without a miss, ready and waiting on arrival.
What sours people is the nickel-and-diming: a buck-fifty for a cube of cheese melting into the chili, an aggressive tip line, a slip of paper riding along inside the club. That stuff, reviewers say, cheapens an otherwise solid sandwich. The play: run the 2 for $20 large special, skip the cheese upcharge, walk out happy.
A loaded Hook & Ladder with good chili is worth dodging one cheese upcharge to try.
The Order
Reviewers point to the Hook & Ladder with a side of chili, and the 2 for $20 large special if you've got a buddy.
⚠ Gotcha
They'll tack on around $1.50 for cheese on the chili and the tip prompt is aggressive, by several accounts. Order on the app for the discount and zero wait.
That's the word on this one.
