The word on DoubleDave's Pizzaworks

Here's the word going around

Full disclosure: I haven't darkened this door myself, not yet.

Anthony, The Leander Local · Last checked August 2026

So, the word on DoubleDave's Pizzaworks, a Leander institution of sorts, is... complicated. You might get lucky. There's Ray, a customer service superstar, apparently, charming the pants off new families. Others report quick fixes for delivery mishaps, like a flood of red sauce rushing to rescue lonely pizza rolls. It seems they know how to make things right, sometimes.

Then there's the other side of the coin. Reviewers speak of a 'Meat Eaters pizza' that's mostly bread, wings that are more 'parts' than full wings, and suspicions of kitchen staff hoarding toppings. Some have walked out with half-baked strombolis and sandwiches, cheese stubbornly unmelted, after waiting forty minutes. And the less said about managers swearing at staff and register guys handling food without a wash, the better. It's a gamble, seemingly.

Still, a place with this much drama, I might have to see it for myself, eventually.

The Order

No specific dish gets a glowing endorsement here. The pizza rolls are mentioned, but more for the quick fix on the sauce than the rolls themselves. It seems more about a general loyalty despite the issues, rather than any standout menu item.

⚠ Gotcha

Be ready to inspect your 'Meat Eaters' for actual meat, and maybe bring a thermometer for your stromboli.

That's the word on this one.
