The word on ATX LATIN FOOD

Here's the word going around

I haven't ordered at this window yet, so this is the diners' read, the warm and the prickly, not mine.

Anthony, The Leander Local · Last checked August 2026

By most accounts the food here is genuinely good and fairly priced. Diners single out the empanadas and the pastelitos, both fresh, both flavorful, the kind of Venezuelan handheld people say they'll always say yes to. The women working the window come up again and again as the heart of this truck, friendly and inviting. On the food alone, the reviews send you here.

But the service, by several accounts, is a coin flip. People report the owner can be in a genuinely sour mood, and one diner who asked why a Malta or Frescolita ran $3.75 when it goes for a fraction of that elsewhere got attitude and a crack about flying to Venezuela to drink it. That kind of thing, reviewers warn, can torpedo an otherwise nice meal. Great empanadas, friendly counter staff, and an owner the reviews wish would remember he's in hospitality.

Fresh empanadas off a heart-run truck? I'll take my chances on the soda situation.

The Order

Reviewers point to the empanadas and the pastelitos, and say skip the overpriced imported sodas.

⚠ Gotcha

Service runs inconsistent and the bottled drinks are marked way up. Keep it about the food and the friendly window staff.

That's the word on this one.
